How to choose an indoor climbing frame
A wooden climbing frame turns a corner of your home into a place to climb, slide and hang every day, whatever the weather. Here is how to pick the right AVDAR set for your child and your space.
Start with your child's age
For babies and young toddlers (0–4 years), the Climber Triangle Set is a Pikler-style climbing triangle with a slide, built for first climbs. From around 1 to 7 years, our climber sets pair a larger climbing frame with a double-sided slide plus accessories such as a swing or gym rings, so the frame keeps up as skills grow. For children over 5 and the rest of the family, the Wall Bar Set is a Swedish ladder with a pull-up bar for stretching and strength work.
Measure your space
The Rainbow, Classic, Rock, Sun and Walnut climber sets each measure 120 x 110 x 110 cm when assembled, with a slide of about 120 cm. Leave clear floor space around the frame and at the end of the slide. The Climber Triangle Set takes 60 x 90 x 70 cm, and the Wall Bar Set stands 234 cm tall against a wall.
Choose the wood and look
The Classic and Rock sets are made from solid pine, the most affordable full sets. The Rainbow Climber Set is beech with rainbow-colored rungs, and the Walnut Climber Set combines black walnut and beech for a furniture-like finish that suits a living room.
Safety and set-up
Test reports for EN71 and ASTM standards are published on product pages such as the Rainbow Climber Set and Climber Triangle Set. Place the frame on a soft mat, follow the step-by-step assembly instructions, and always supervise young children while they climb.
